On July 22, 2022, I turn 44.
I've often heard that our 33rd year is one of special meaning, be it based in spirituality, religion, or numerology.
But, I can't help but notice the numbers in this year's event: 22 + 22 = 44. That has to mean something, right?
Maybe?
We'll see what this year brings but after a year full of change, I'm looking forward to what 44 brings.
I also believe in the power of positive thinking so here are a few birthday wishes that I really hope come true.
Shelter Relief
I follow A LOT of shelters and rescues on social media and they are all saying the same thing.
Too. Many. Animals.
Why?
- People surrendering animals after remote work options ceased.
- People surrendering animals because they can no longer afford to care for them.
- People surrendering animals because they are moving to a place where pets are not allowed.
- People choosing not to spay/neuter.
- Some of those people choosing to breed those animals.
So, my first birthday wish is for shelters and rescues to be showered in funds to expand their services and facilities while simultaneously the animal population inside these organizations decreases due to people choosing to adopt and spay or neuter.
The current dog and cat euthanasia numbers are staggering. And, those trying to help are underfunded and exhausted.
Want to help?
- Volunteer at a rescue
- Donate $$
- Donate goods like food, beds, blankets, etc.
- Designate a nonprofit animal rescue as your Amazon Smile beneficiary
- ADOPT a new furry friend, or five!
Using Social Media For Good
I LOVE seeing small business support one another. For example, when I first opened SPEX I felt so welcomed by three Fresno small businesses. They shared and engaged with my posts, offered advice, and most of all made me feel like a part of the cool kids club. I cannot overstate how scary and intimidating this whole "opening and running a business" thing is so their support was, and is, a blessing.
So, huge thanks to:
- Val at Fur Real Life Photography
- Jenn at Brewer's Bandanas
- Haley at Puppercuterie
My second birthday wish is that you check out their businesses, follow & engage with them on social media, buy something, or all of the above!
Check out SPEX, Then Tell Your Friends
"Hey, hey, this sounds like advertising!"
Yep - it is!
My last birthday wish is for more people to know about SPEX. How?
So, first, if you haven't yet browsed our site, please check it out. Currently, we offer 22 (there's that number again!!) frame styles in multiple sizes and colors.
Then, tell a few of your friends about us. Better yet, share our website, Instagram, Facebook, Blog, or forward our subscribe page and tell them that they, too, can read about the weekly thoughts of the adorable Frankie & Freddie!
Lastly, a reminder that this weekend is the SPEX Birthday Sale that gives everyone who spends $145 or more a 22% (!!!) discount on their total purchase. Remember to designate a nonprofit rescue in your cart as the beneficiary of your donation. If you don't have one in mind, why not designate one of our SPEX Friends! (SPEX Friends discount codes cannot be used in conjunction with the Birthday Sale)
Thank you for reading. In doing so, you've already made a portion of my last birthday wish come true! 🥳
